Our range of terrace furniture features attractive outdoor teak tables, chairs and bistro sets. Teak is a tropical hardwood species that is native to south and southeast Asia. It has a reputation for being so strong that for over 2000 years it has been used as a boatbuilding material, as not only is it high strength it is also known that teak is highly resistant to rotting, and displays both fungi and mildew resistant properties. This reputation has seen it cross over into other industries, and become a staple material of outdoor furniture. The high oil content of teak and the high tensile strength make it extremely weatherproof, being able to withstand water in particular.
Due to its elegance and properties as a strong wood teak has traditionally been more expensive than many other woods. However, it is a great investment, and with the right care and treatment many teak tables have been known to last up to 70 years. This shows that teak is one of the best wooden materials for outdoor commercial spaces where seating and tables need to withstand rigorous use by a number of people.
Although water does not damage teak, if left outdoors in the sun for long periods of time the colour of the wood can change. We advice you treat the wood regularly with a teak oil to maintain the aesthetic. The structure and stability should not alter due to weather.
